To prepare and preserve your trophy, we use dermestid beetles to thoroughly clean the skull of flesh. Skulls that are cleaned by bugs come out whiter and cleaner. In comparison, boiled skulls force fat into the bones, often damaging the bone structure and resulting in a greasy yellow color.

Already have a skull that's cleaned and ready to be bronzed? We do that too! You can ship your already-cleaned skull to C & J's Bug Barn to get it bronzed. Pricing will vary based on trophy size. Please contact us below.

We are happy to coordinate with you to pick up and/or drop off your trophy (available locations include Thermopolis, WY & Rock Springs, WY). If our schedules don't align, you can also ship your trophy to us. Customers are responsible for the full cost of shipping, including return.
We've now had several wildlife skulls completed and cleaned from C & J’s Bug Barn. Each European skull is absolutely stunning! The detail is immaculate, with every nook and cranny of the skull beautifully cleaned and preserved. You can tell that C & J's takes the time and care needed to ensure each piece is handled with respect and precision. The final mount was flawless, with the bones fully white, no staining, and no damage to the antlers.
